    French M1842 Gendarmarie pistol?

This finally arrived today..a Frenchicon M1842 Gendarmarie pistol (I'm pretty sure)
St Etienne lock, Liege proofed barrel. A very handy little percussion pistol.
Very, very little info on these. I imagine here in the US, they're pretty scarce. Its in really good condition, wouldn't hesitate firing it. Any idea of caliber?
Enjoy the pics. Hadn't heard of these until I ran across this one.
