    Early Underwood stock markings

    Good day.
I have a question regarding the stock on my 1.37 M Underwood.
Itís a correct I cut stock, but in the sling well instead of MU, PU, RMC it says MARLIN.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

Was MU the mark for Marlin?
Cause this says MARLIN vertically in the stock well.
    Thanks

The earliest Marlin stocks made for Underwood had the word spelled out as you described; they are not often seen.

    From this link:

    SouthFork,
    Welcome to the Forum.
Does your stock have the large boxed UEF over GHD ? With CC off to the outside ?
Circled P proof on the bottom of the pistol grip ?

    BTW.... We love pictures

I canít figure out how to attach pictures...
But I can tell you the cartouche is GHD over UEF with CC inside a box.
    MARLIN as photos above.
Any help with posting pics would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Chris

The hand guard only has a P stamped on the underside..
It went through an arsenal as well...AAP stamped on side.

There is a sticky thread above the normal thread you posted titled "how do I upload pictures to my posts for storage on Milsurps" by Harlan. There are a couple methods to do it and both are listed in that sticky thread. It's just about two or three threads above this one.hth, it took me a little while to figure out how also, but I find it easier using the go advanced method explained in the sticky thread

I think it's worth mentioning that I've seen a few of the Marlin spelled out I-cuts with the later rectangular box with GHD over UEF stamped on the right hand. I had one of them stamped like that and have seen others online. My thought is it simply dates UEF I-cut usage a bit later than originally thought.
