    Enfield No9

I recently came across a No9 Enfield...the Parker Hale conversion to .22cal. It is within my sights to buy it. The metal work and original finish are superb, has proper magazine, bolt matches and forestock is serialized to rifle. There were a few issues thought...the barrel basically flops around within the front of the forestock......that I can deal with but what I really need is the rearsight with the correct 25 yrd slider....I have been looking on the net but info is tough to come by for these No 9 rifles. Does anybody sell parts that you might be aware of(rear correct sight). I realize that only about 3,000 were produced so not being too hopeful.

Do you need a closeup photo of the sight--would that help at all?

I know it won't be original but a No8 sight fits and is calibrated exactly. The only reason why the N9 and No7 couldn't use the No8 rifle sight was because the configuration was patented. And BSA didn't want to get their bottoms smacked again after their breech of licence over the No8's to NZicon saga. That condition didn't apply once they were in service so all those needy No7's and 9's that went to workshops came out with No8 type backsights!
