I’m just quoting what I’ve seen and it’s very inconsistent. I will say that the body I just used to build up a complete rifle with a Criterion barrel had the US Property stamp removed but no distinct FTR markings. It was an original rifle with remnants of Suncorite paint present over where the markings are on the body so I don’t think it was removed by a civilian owner. Possibly a country outside of Britainicon and the Commonwealth? These rifles were shipped everywhere post WW2 so one has to wonder.

I forgot to mention it’s restored with American birch, Canadianicon birch and English beech so I didn’t worry about matching manufacture parts. I wanted it to be as original-rebuilt and it has parts representing all the countries that built No.4 rifles during wartime. All the wood is a good color match to spec and it’s a very nice rifle. Shoots good too.
