    No12 Mk1 case

I wondered if anyone could positively confirm what this case was originally intended for, please? It currently contains a No53 tank telescopic sight which I found would fit after the removal of an internal metal packing/spacer ring. Thanks for any information.

I think that it could be intend for one of the tank/gun scopes based on the No32 rifle scope, without adjustments, but I stand to be corrected and am open to other suggestions.

Thanks for that info... very helpful in understanding the differences in the sights. Oddly I have two No.22C sights and neither fits in the case properly. Both are 34cm as noted but are both too long for the No.12 case. I can see some sort of buffer/bumper at the bottom of my No.12 case (the lid has a felt pad) and I wonder if that was a rubber bumper that has hardened over the years and not allowing the sight to go down the last cm or so. Or maybe it was added afterward to use the case for something else. Not sure if I should try to remove that bumper at the bottom. I would like to put one of my two 22C sights in the actual No.12 case.

Does anyone else have a No12 or No14 case that they could check to see if there is a thick rubber bumper in the bottom.

    Thanks

I keep a tank sighting telescopic sight (No59 ?) in my case but I had to remove a sheet metal packing ring from inside the case so that it would fit.

It was almost a perfect fit which is why I think the case was intended for a variation of the No32 scope, without windage and elevation screws.

There were numerous sighting scopes in use; British Sighting Telescopes
