    Pre-War German K98k Identification

I picked this rifle up at a gunshow and for my collection. I just wanted to know if the rifle was in Germanicon service or was an export as I heard that some models were shipped to South Americaicon. However those to seem to be in earlier serial number blocks and this rifle appears to be in a later serial number block for 1937, that block being X. I had seen on another forum that there was a discussion on S/42 1937 late serial block rifles that had these markings as opposed to Weimar eagles and nobody mentioned that those rifles they were discussing were the South American rifles.

They were also speaking like the German military did use these later serial blocks as well and did not export them.

The Stock Set is matching as is most of the rifle except for the bolt which is German manufacture. However the safety flag is Czechicon made.

If it was a South American rifle wouldn't there likely be a crest on top of the receiver, or didn't it always get applied in all cases?

I looked at those and they there were examples with crests. However I heard that they might have also stamped the stock on the left side but there is no stamping not even faint. So I was left leaning that it was a Germanicon rifle.

It has Germanicon acceptance marks all over it, it's German, not an export model.

I just wanted to make sure. I looked at photos of some Portuguese rifles and they had some Germanicon proofs. But overall I am happy with the purchase. I got it for $550.
