This is my fathers .45 automatic. In the 50s he was in the Air Force stationed in Alaska and maned a listening post on the Aleutian Island. He was in intelligence and plotted Russianicon Pilot positions based on their radio transmissions and worked with a Russian linguist. He ordered the surplus pistol and it was shipped to him. I learned to shoot an automatic pistols with this gun. As noted in the title this is an Ithaca 1911A1, made in 1944 if I am correct. It came with a black leather US holster and belt. Shoots great and accepts any type of ammo. Most of wear came from me and my brother. When my Dad got on in years he gave me the pistol. It is of course greatly treasured and I am lucky.
