    Old Bullet Collection

I recently purchased this small collection of old bullets at a militaria event because they looked interesting and seemed reasonably priced. Although I wasn't entirely sure what guns they were from when buying them I did wonder if some are for the Martini? I wondered if I could have some help in identification of them, please? I have measured them with a micrometer and have tried to give a "mean" diameter between all the examples, taking into account some are slightly deformed in diameter, i.e. slightly oval. The letters above the diameter dimensions purely for identification purposes. Thanks for any help and information.

Quite a few of these have been fired. Most look to be in only fair to poor shape. Not what is really needed for accuracy.

A - look like mini balls from the US Civil war which would probably make them for the 1853 muskets in use by both countries.

Lots of those are current and not at all old. They've been cast by guys like me and fired...for instance "H", 450" is a set of three from a .45 ACP and about a 185 gr semi wadcutter. "N", 354" is a 38 S&W Special I think. Should weigh about 150 gr and why it measures so small is of conjecture but it's not a 9mm bullet. #1 of "D", 450" is a cast 225 gr .45 ACP I think. I make them all the time. "E", .455" may well have been fired through a UKicon issue Colt auto or revolver. Not that old either.

I think the really big first ones you have pictured are the old ones. A,B,C...maybe a nail brush and warm water...
    Regards, Jim
