    Interesting Range Day Find.

I'm a range safety office at one of the gun clubs here and found a spent round that I found intresting.

The only thing I can figure is that someone by accident loaded a 9MM in to a .45 Cal mag and cycled them though his pistol. The cartadge is a 9MM and the expansion is .45.

I wonder if the breech is scored by the gas exiting the burst point? I wonder if there was visible blow-by?

I was wondering that as well. I think it was the folks that were there i the morning, they were new shooters. But I didn't see or hear any yelps...

Everyone who saw it wanted it. I prefer the kinds that are reloadable.

Could have been a .40 but I matched it to a .45 case.

Agreed, I have lots. I don't know what to do with oddballs, my collection has enough loaded live collectibles now.

    another odd situation

I was shooting some CCI long rifle in a 22 rim fire conversion kit installed in a Colt AR-15 Sporter when I heard a odd, different noise. As the long rifle cartridge was being started toward the chamber it went off ! The case bulged and bullet was found on top of the magazine after the bolt struck the loose bullet. Never seen anything like this before.Attachment 101246Attachment 101247

I have, I've seen its on .22's that have webble wobbly heads the heads hang up on the lip of the chamber and the bolt crimps the primer enough to discharge. Makes a crazneesem' report and metal flackeness to whats on the side of the discharge port.

Here's a link showing a casing I found last year of a 40 fired out of a 45 ACP. Do you have a picture showing the primer strike? - Bob
