Boyds (?) Semi-Inlet Stock ID Help

Hey all.

I thought someone out there may be able to ID this stock for me.
I just picked it up in a local auction. I've always wanted a classic safari style rifle and I'll take this wicked beautiful stock as a sign that it's time to build.

Trouble is, I don't know what it's for. I suspect it's from Boyd's. I've seen that same style ink stamp in the barrel channel of a Boyd's before.

Any help??

My hope is it's for a Mauser...maybe the 1903. Either would be great. I would be less enthused by a Winchester 70 or Remington 700. Fingers crossed!

Looks like it would work for a LR Mauser to me judging by the flats on either side of rear bridge and tang area. Also to the left and right and between of the trigger/magazine box. The cartridge trap is a nice catch all by itself and looks very well inlet for you.
If it's for a model 70 that would be a good enough kick to pick one up for me.

I was leaning that direction as well based on pictures.

I'm going to lean into it and proceed with the project. I have a line on a couple commercial FN Mausers in 9.3x62. Doesn't get much more classic than that and they'll make a great foundation along with this stock.

I paid $87.50 for the stock. I figure the cartridge trap ALONE was worth that. Nice start indeed!

I aggree with Doco, defintly a Mauser stock what his observations and also the large hole for the forward trigger guard screw. Not a Win 70 for sure.

I have purchased the mauser to go in it. 9.3x62 as I said. A real classic thumper.

I'll take pictures along the way. If things turn out alright, I'll put together a post.

RC, My stock is shaped just like yours and the wood is very similar. I believe they were made by the same stockmaker. The Buttplate has the "Bishop" logo on it. Mine is a T38 Arisaka rebarreled in .308. The stock and most of the parts were gunshow pickups. Salt Flat

Usabaker, Thanks for the comment. It's a good shooter-- I've shot it just a few times. It has a recycled varmint weight barrel that I think I paid $10 for quite awhile back. The rifling was great so I re-threaded it for the Arisaka action and chambered it for .308. Just recently I revised it a little by switching to a Weaver K4 and Redfield mount. I will get it out again soon and see how it does. Salt Flat
