Man, the person who staked the pins on ALL of those flip sights had a great day! He or she was performing like a well oiled machine on that day and perhaps more.

Welcome to Tennessee. Patron state of shootin stuff.
Ten,
Took my first ever shots in Tennessee near Gallatin. First gun my 5th birthday Dec 12. Still have that .22.
Father was from Nashville area, Mother from East Kentucky, Pikeville. Mom grew up across the hollow knowing Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle, ( believe last names were Webb) whose Father was teamed up (2 man teams) with my Grandfather in the coal mines. Little bit of Shine brewing for extra$ and stash. Pretty much owned by the Coal company, Home, Store etc.
My Father grew up best friends with Bill and Charlie Monroe...... Later... The Blue Grass Boys. Dad was their Roadie, went to war and stayed friends.
I have a picture with me sitting next to Bill where I'm holding his Mandolin.
A close family friend was known as String Bean (MR Akeman to us boys), he later played on the Hee Haw show. He was the Banjo player for Bill before Earl Scruggs came along.
Went to his funeral in the early 70's after he and his wife were robbed and murdered. They were found by other family friends of my Fathers Grampa Jones and Wife (?)
When young we got passes to the Ole Ryman, I was too young but met many old stars of the day. Some knew me because of my Father and his friends.
Couldn't help but wander Off Topic a bit. The Ryman is a special place.
My Father along with so many more caught the train near there heading for basic training.
Then off to WWII. Another reason having his M1 carbine means so much.

You think they might have some type of press that stakes both sides in one step?
End of the pins took a hit also.
China crap..........

I didn't know that old dude in Shooter was actually The Band's drummer until now, Charlie. His character is my favorite of the movie. Perfectly cast. Well acted.
PRODUCTION PIN STAKING AND LETTER STAMPING IN ONE STEP

After the sandal wearing kid assembles the sight.....
I wonder if there IS some type of press they use that leaves the desired markings and pin staking in one step.
Maybe the Sight is placed down in a type of retaining holder shaped like the outer edges.
One plate having the raised S and a raised punch type stake for the pin.
The other plate having the same stake/punch and maker letters IE: FO B.
When pressed down the impressions are left.
The markings on all are nearly exactly placed in the same locations.
The uniformed finish wear we see on ALL the edges may come from contact between the plates while being pressed.
IDK, But somehow I'm sure they've got a assembly line together kicking these out that would have impressed Ole Henry Ford.
Ever seen the Chinese Spark Plug factory ?
A place just like this is supplying all those NOS Carbine sights, bands, safeties..... etc
A 19th century, streamlined process hellbent on maximizing profit and humpa-reproduct-ability. I'd buy one just to rip it apart, but they sell for way to much money. Every time there's a fake flip auction on eBay, some knucklehead snipes it out from under me for hundreds of dollars forcing me to buy a real one for less. Very disappointing.
If only I could get my hands on one. I could take it a apart to analyze the materials and mauncfacturing techniques. Then, I could use only the highest quality materials, highly paid/skilled workers and vastly improve on current humping techniques. I've found numerous WW2 factory workers itching to get back to work.
My goal is to make an ultra high quality humped flip and charge double what a real one is worth. Only in this way can we, the collector community, convince others to learn how to identify and thusly buy real ones. Adding a turbo or supercharger might help.
Meh, it's probably easier to just start collecting marbles.
