    New Light Carbine Rifle

    Feb 1942 Fort Benning, GA.
Testing the new light Carbine rifle with attached Trench knife.

Oct-Nov 1942 the 2 above met LT Col. Edson Raff. Shortly after the visit from First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to Englandicon the 509th PIR was off to Algeria on Operation Torch.
You may remember Col. Edson and his home made bayonet.. pictures show him with that bayonet well in to the Algeria campaign.

Previously noted by fellow member Mark in Rochester:
Col. Edson had a storied career.....
