WW2 & WHAT IT BRINGS TO LIGHT TODAY

In 2016, an old lady died in Ruislip, London.

When her son was going through her effects they found this weapon along with 200 rounds and a list of people to be killed.

Why had she kept the weapon?

She worked at Bletchley Park during WW2 and in the event of a Germanicon invasion was to lead a resistance cell to kill collaborators.

In her effects she also had an assassination list - and some of those who might have collaborated might still be alive! Both are now in a museum.

    Amazing but true!!

I've handled that Mk3 at Warminster Gil.
The crinkle finish looked relatively new to me.

They were suncorite (or equivalent Matt black) painted from the factory, so it begs the question, who painted it?

Never seen that factory finish on a/any Sten Gun. I would say done afterwards for reasons best known to whoever....

    Peter,
Agreed, can't say I have ever seen one like that unless tarted up in someway, and a recent thing too, I have seen a lot like that at Militaria shows!!
Perhaps she was a frustrated armourer and decided to give it a lick of paint in case we went back to war again

It's an interesting story; but would be nice to see some official verification. There wasn't much threat of invasion after the Germans went into Russiaicon. Handing out weapons for resistance in the UKicon may have been viable in 1940 but would not be necessary by 1942.
Any dates on the ammo? Or serial number on the Sten.
Maybe I'm being a bit sceptical!

Interesting story and the finer details will probably never be known.
