Redfield peep sight on Jungle Carbine

I have an Enfield No 5 Jungle Carbine. When I got it it had a Redfield peep sight installed. Does anyone know if this was something done by the Britishicon or is this an after service modification made by a sportsman?

It must have been a popular addition, because I've seen a couple over the years. I assume Redfield made a base specifically for the Lee-Enfield. I have a No.1 Mk.III with a base still attached, but the rest of the sight is long gone. Wish I could find the parts to complete it.

Sure, popular...so were putting things like PH sights on these type. Anything that could be adjusted, civilians didn't always shoot the right recipe of ball to shoot to POA for issue sights.

I assure you it was civilian, not military.
    Regards, Jim
