Big red one...by the way, a swivel bale helmet would be late for that early character to wear... Everything should have been early issue.

    October of 1942???

Makes you wonder if this was his relaxed carry method when he was a Marine?

Just an example of art imitating life. Of course, he earned his right to carry it whatever way he wished.

The Rolex Submariner as well. OOPS Mark spotted it first. No Steve. I need to read the replies first.
    Great actor.

I would expect he simply adapted a few things from before. He would have been fully familiar with the M1icon after all...

Yes, '42 was the landing in Africa but his character was WW1...so he would have had early issue and I know old guys, don't relinquish gear until it's busted. I'd expect him to have OD3 gear and fixed bale helmet, he carried his "Leon" fighting knife from WW1 after all. Anyway, good clear shot and could be an actual field shot if we didn't know better.
    Regards, Jim

Can't really see it and don't know much about military watches. Just the one I was issued...I expect it's out of place though? Is it an ironman?

I believe the watch is a Rolex Submariner- we have discussed this before
