    Winchester Garand barrel inquiry

    Hi Fellas,

I've got a Winchester receivered M1icon Garand with a shot out Springfield barrel. Has some other Winchester stamped parts. What are my options to get it to be a decent shooter? It's my onliest M1. Thanks PAX

A Winchester WW2 barrel in nice condition will cost around $400.00, Winchester stocks wil cost more depending on time period

Changing the barrel shouldn't take it's accuracy away. If all you're changing is adding a NOS barrel or good used GI then it'll shoot fine.

Thanks guys. I haven't shot it yet and the general consensus it to give it a go first. I was actually considering a barrel now, versus later in the game. I know nothing M1icon. PAX

Yes, shoot it first. Don't know what gave you the idea it's shot out, whether it's gauged wide open or just a smooth bore but if it's beat then you'll need a good one eventually. You could always use a Kreiger barrel if you can't find a Winchester. Unless you want to stay military then there are others that are acceptable.
    Regards, Jim

Well Fellas, I was surprised at the rapid replies I received. I got this list sent to me, and will be going with #5 just to have it if/when needed.

    1. SA 6(or 8?)-48, TE=3, MW=3, chromed gas cylinder pads........$90
    2. SA 9-64, TE=3+, MW=4.....$75
    3. SA 3-44, TE=4+, MW=4......$60
    4. SA 12-41, TE=2, MW=1......$200
    5. VAR 6-61, TE=1, MW=2......$180

    Thanks all, PAX
