my latest project, .35 Whln, imp.

put this together with spare bits that were cut up, welded up, shortened, or messed with.
receiver was sold to me as a SHT RIA, come to findout its a NS RIA, with a number that was buffed off when it was blued before,
a file marked it real easy..
barrel is one iv had for a while and a Coozer rebore in .35Wh, imp.
finally got all together, in a stock, just need to set a scope, and shoot.
not bad for a free rifle built with junk spare parts that were set for the scrap bin.

I love a good rifle made from parts.

I had a 91 Mauser receiver that was brand new, and a like new barrel on a 91 receiver with the crest ground off, so I put the new receiver and barrel together, put on a Timney 91 trigger (pain in the rear) and a Williams 91 click peep sight and ramp front, cut the barrel to 17 1/2", and put the whole thing in a 91 Mauser stock I bought off eBay for $35. It is a hoot to shoot, and weighs 6 pounds fully loaded. Oh yes, put a button in the clip release so it just pops out with a push of the button. Great brush gun in 7.65mm which is essentially a 308 with a larger caliber bullet (303). When I hold it by the grip, the tip of the barrel is over 6" off the ground. Now I need to checker the stock.

Yours is a very nice effort and I'll bet she shoots like a dream. Give us a range report when you get a chance. I have a D&T'ed 03 HN receiver I have been considering converting to 400 Whelan.

I like those mounts - Buehler?

That looks nice, Chuck. I've been getting more into sporters lately, at least old ones. Picked up a nice shooter grade Prewar Model 70 in 30-06 recently. D&T rear bridge and refinished, but a really nice bore, but having a time getting mounts for it.

    Anyway, nice "parts" rifle.

Beautiful rifle from junk parts? I gotta go dumpster diving at your place!!! I have built a couple of rifles like this though & actually have got quite a bit of satisfaction out of it. What hurts is when you have to cannibalize one for another project...

I have a couple .35 Whelens build like this, and one .35 Ackley, although it is on a Rem 700 action

Both the regular and the improved versions are excellent shooters.
