Well, the Challenger came in but I returned it. Someone had engraved their name in it...coincidentally, that section of the scope wasn't photographed
So I went with this Weaver K10 instead. It was cheap because of the light rust (looks like foxing in an old book!). I can live with that for the price. Now to get it sighted in!
Pretty slick looking setup. State of the art 50 or 60 years ago...and still pretty daggum cool!

I have a really long 3-9 variable Weaver like that, even after all these years it shoots great.

Looks good! I'd be tempted to steel wool and touch up with cold blue that scope.

I tried! It barely darkened it. Must be the type of steel or something.

I suspect you didn't open up the pores of the metal then. You have to get to the base under the rust and oxidation to get blue to work well...many try to just rub it on and it doesn't work.

I cleaned with acetone. I’ll try steel wool this time.
