1901 "Enfield" Action on GB, Kyber?
I was trolling GB and I found what is advertised as "Enfield 1901 Receiver, Bolt & Trigger assembly", Sale #863072674.
I've been known lately to pick up Stray Enfields that are beat down so I checked it out.
After looking it over, it does not seem quite right even through the fuzzy pics.
I'm wondering if it is a Kyber made rifle action. The receiver looks bowed in the middle from the side views, well to me nothing looks straight on the whole thing. The inspection stamps on the breech look similar to the pics Badger put up in “Khyber Pass” Lee-Enfield No.I Mk.III* Rifle" and many other things make me suspicious. In one of the pics, it looks like a modern serial number is stamped on the left side of the receiver forward of the charger bridge, which is close to where one of the Kyber guns pictured in "Khyber Pass Enfields (Lots of Pictures)" by Alan De Enfield on this site.
I'm curious to know what persons who know what they are talking about think if it

It is an artisan produced action for sure. Bogus stamped markings. It does look a little wonky overall. Fuzzy photos are always a red flag tor me.
I enjoy many hours at the work bench making parts for my projects by hand using mainly hand tools, saws, drills, files. I can appreciated the craft in making these knock-offs. Actually, I am in usually in awe when I look at a decently made Khyber rifle.
I have no idea as to how they would go about making a receiver body. Sand casting? The originals were hot drop forged and then were subject to multiple machining operations.
I would just love to go visit a workshop where they make these.
The saga of the SOG rifles has been well published.
It would make a good paper weight.

I have fabricated parts and done projects myself before and I can appreciate the time that was put into it. All those guys sitting around the floor of the blacksmith's shop, hand filing everything, trying to keep that long bit centered drilling out barrels!
Don't know how else they would make the receivers besides maybe casting them.
I was thinking about bidding on it, but right away it didn't look right.

FFS! It's cocked!
What does it take to get through to the brain-dead that you close the bolt with the trigger depressed to close the action safely?
And who sells an action without the essential front screw?
Assessment: 100% dodgy...
Trying to save Service history, one rifle at a time...
