I don't like plastic pistols

I can't possibly the only one that just can't fathom owning a plastic gun (yeah I know 'polymer'). I mean I have come close twice in getting something like a Smith or Ruger but every time I pick one up I just can't do it.

I've shot a number of friends Glocks and such and yeah, they shoot great but just not for me. I'm not to partial to aluminum either but better than plastic. I gotta have steel in my hands.

I guess I'm just weird...

I've got some plastic as well. They're tools. Good tools. The others (the vast majority) may not be as efficient in all ways, but I enjoy them for whole set of different reasons. I suppose that's why most of us are here.

With the amount of plastic fantastics here the weapon of choice would be a Glock as all our Police have them not sure on our Services whether they have the Glocks or SIG's.
The ammo is readilly available not so much for say a .40, 45ACP or 44Mag so for spares and ammo the Glocks the go.

I don’t like plastic too. Together with striker system it’s a complete no-go to me. I shot Glocks, APX, Walther P99... I’ll stick to my Bernardelli P-One. Forged steel frame and slide. Rock-solid. Accurate and beautiful. Maybe a Colt 1911 sooner or later. But no plastic, striker fired or similars.

Yes, I agree especially the beautiful. I understand that plastic guns have their place and tools of the trade. If I were still in the military I'm sure I would rather have the plastic in the field over the steel but only because of the reduction in weight. For personal use, I want something that feels solid in the hand, one that won't look beat to hell in a year or two, and is something that can stand the test of time and be passed down to my kin.

Good for use on your nightstand but not as a work weapon. I carried my P226 for almost 30 years, it never failed me and even saved a couple of lives. In fact, it is going out this morning to help my son in law learn some handgun techniques.

Funny, the only reason I started this post is that I have been looking for a modern handgun in 9mm and the market is dominated by plastic. I watched a guy on the YouTUBE stippling the grip of his Glock with a soldering iron. Just more of a reason I believe these to be throw-a-way guns. Heat degrades plastic hitting it with a soldering iron just speeds up the process, I would assume that firing the thing would cause the same eventually.
