    Model 1917 Still serving!

    Attachment 107178Attachment 107179

So, Many years ago a friend passed this Model 1917 on to me. He had bought 3 at a gun show when prices where still friendly. Anyway, I have shot this rifle over the years, and began to wonder about the safety of it. Barrell wear, headspacing etc... It is a nice rifle, shoots well.
Take care my fellow shooters, one day we will all be able to go and shake hands again.

If you haven't shot at least 3 000 rounds of normal military ammunition there shouldn't be a problem. It should last at least another 3 000 with normal care and carefulness.

Nice Winchester 1917. All things being equal, it will out last all of us just as it has outlasted several other generations. They are great shooters.

Years ago, 19 in fact, I had an unissued Remington made M1917 with it's bayonet, unissued as well. There was grease still in the action and on the bayonet. Sadly, I sold it because I was offered three times what I paid for it from a collector from Connecticut. I never shot it because it was unfired and unissued. I had a second Remington that I fired and boy was it accurate. I used to fire it at Marine Corp League competitions all the time with great results. I sold that one too.
