Just picked up this Type 99 for $300. When I was doing the data sheet I noticed that some things did not match up with what I expected from a No Series Nagoya. Broke out the tape measure on a hunch and got 50 inches from butt stock to muzzle.

The guy that sold it to me said he got it from a woman that found it in her attic after her husband died, but didn't have much other info. It did not have a firing pin or safety, so these have been replaced. Other than that all numbers appear to match. It has a fair amount of surface rust, but no major pitting. At first I was a little disappointed at the condition, but now, not so much. Besides being a possible long rifle, it cleaned up pretty well.

One other thing. The rear trigger guard screw is rusted in place. Any ideas on how to break it free?

I don't know much about these rifles, so looking for inputs.
