Holy mackeral, can my No.4(T) shoot 1" groups?

Bore sighting left me 8" low and 6" wide right. Once I got back on the paper and calmed down I started putting together decent groups. Then a 1 1/8" group! Could have been an accident and I'm pretty rusty and it was Belmont ammunition, but dang can't argue with 1 1/8' at 100 yards from an 86 year old rifle.
What I need to do is when the shots start straying, stop. I have have a bad habit of trying to shoot through my issues until I "come back" and it's costing me.

As the barrel heats up and if it touches wood anywhere, then the groups open up dramatically. It's one of the reasons that good sniper rifles "float" from the receiver.

My wife has almost a dozen No.4(T)'s (Longbranch and UK). When she shoots for grouping accuracy or zeroing, she quits after the barrel gets hot, as it's a waste of time and her groups open up dramatically.

Nice. 12" plates at 500 meters would be so much more fun than punching paper. My range is kinda dumpy, we're lucky they even put up target frames. I really like that Swede they were shooting. Problem is the safes are full, if I buy anything else something has to go.
But still, I really like that Swede. Which means I'm probably gonna get one if history is any predictor.

I cannot get any of my No4T's to do what the 03s, m41b's, or the soviet snipers do. which I find depressing... I have attempted different rifles and different handloads rounds to no avail. Ugh. The best one I have shot was one that Brian Dick worked on for a buddy of mine. I guess Ill need to send him one of mine to do the correct bedding etc...

Well I shot 900 yrds at Bisley with my 4(T) yesterday with my club, and I was the only one not using a battle rifle all the others were shooting 7.62 HB target No.4's with PH5C aperture sights......the heat haze as temps here in UK approached 30C seemed to affect the front sight picture of the target rifle guys with their ring front sights, but not so much me with the Mk.3 32 scope. But by the last 2/3 rounds of my 5 sighters and 10 scored shots, I knew the barrel was getting too hot as scores just dropped off a tad.
Anyway the old girl did wonderfully and I bagged a respectable 40.2, which for an old battle rifle at 900 yrds wasn't too shabby I thought.......(and outscored all the 7.62 HB No.4 target rifles guys with their bondage jackets and straps as well, which was amusing so I took the 900 yrd club shoot trophy home with me )
