25 May 20 Garand Picture of the Day

American soldiers, probably men of 8th Cavalry Regiment, captured by Chinese in their 1st Phase Campaign.

One of the Chinese is apparently armed with a 9mm Sten Mark 2 Machine Carbine, and the other with a Japaneseicon 6.5mmType 38 WWII rifle . The CCF soldier with the Sten has spare magazines on his cartridge webbing, the one with the rifle carries stick grenades

Probably propaganda for the Peoples Army... A friend of mine told me all they say was Japaneseicon weapons in use...so no surprise there. The Sten would have been a Long Branch I should think.

    Weapons

Accounts of the time show that the Chinese were armed with a bazaar of weapons, including a lot of '03 Springfields given to the Nationalists in the civil war. The Marines on Fox Hill even recovered a Belgian 30-06 FN-49.
