I am reminded once again of the elephant in the room: 14,000 odd No32 MkI and II scopes completed by the end of 1943 and only about 20% of that number apparently in service by then. They were either sitting in store as unissued rifles, or sitting in store as unfitted scopes. I suspect the latter.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
