    Best M84 Reproduction?

    Greetings All,

I'm looking for an M84 to place on an M1D build.

All of the info I find on the repros is dated maybe 10 years or so. All the places that used original parts are out, and some places advertise as "milspec" but have aluminum tubes "diamond turned" (poly-crystalline diamond turning insert).

What is available for a guy who wants to use a M1D for competition (run and gun as opposed to CMPicon)?

A decade ago comments were made on forums that NOS units could still be had but the guys typing couldn't actually source them XD.

Is there a magical repository of NOS M84 telescopic sights somewhere?

    Warm Regards,
    Jesse

There’s a few originals on eBay right now.
You could buy another Garandicon for the prices they’re asking!

    Yeah, no kidding!

This isn't going to be hung on a wall or in a safe, its going to be used in a brutality match. We used an original M82 scope in January on a drilled and tapped and reamed (for pins) grade C receiver.

These rifles get tossed onto the ground before kettle bell throws, tossed onto a conex, ect, so a repro would be better (unless I got some screaming deal).

I bought a repro from Numrich some time ago. I never had the chance to shoot it before someone made me an offer I couldn’t refuse for the whole rifle.
The optics were very clear and bright though — sorry I can’t give you more than that!

That does help. An unbiased review is worth something.
How did the windage and elevation knobs feel as they went through their travel?

Some sites have all 5-stars and its a little much.

Just to add, these were some of the rifles used at the staff match in January.

He pans across in the vid. You can see the M1C clone. The STG44 was found in "grandpas attic", was "destroyed" then rebuilt by an FF07 (so full auto)

    E-Sarco Stock O M84 Parts

So, I've read that E-Sarco was assembling scopes from NOS parts.

When checking their site and seeing all the parts they offer it seems they figured out how much more they can make selling replacement parts as opposed to building complete scopes.

It's been at least 15 years since Sarco sold a case of brand new M84 scopes; I'm still kicking myself for not buying one. Sarco acquired a lot of unserviceable or incomplete M84's that they needed to have repaired. So, they contracted with a scope repair technician who had a 5 gal bucket filled with demilled (tube cut) M84's to repair them, as there was no other source for parts. Some scope tubes supplied by Sarco did not have a serial # on the name plate. Once these scopes were gone, there was no longer any source.

After a few years, repro scopes made in China were offered. I would guess that most M84 parts found today are going to come from China. I see that Optics Planet is selling Hi-Lux M84 repros for around $400, but I have no experience with them.

    Neal
