Finally got a 1905 Mk II 3*

I have been looking at Ross rifles at gun shows and online for years. I really liked the 1905 so under the "life is too short snd getting shorter all the time" category, I got this one and it checks all my boxes: original wood stock - no cuts - no sanding, fully marked butt stock with battalions it was with, CEF marked so it went overseas during WWI, and US marked. While I have admired them, i am still learning about them. I think it is all there and correct. However, If you see something out of place in the following photos please point them out.

The bolt is sticking/ not as smooth as I thought it would be - any recommendations for a Ross friendly lubricant?

Looks good. The front sight hood is on backwards although I have seen enough of them that way to wonder if some just liked them that way. As you probably know most of these ones sent to the US had the chambers REALLY reamed so tend to "fireform" enthusiastically. As for the bolt being stiff or sticky, the bolts are often completely caked with old fossilized grease and dirt, so a good soaking in a solvent or ultrasonic bath may work wonders.....

Thank you for replying Jim and Boltaction! I did try some stuff called Go-Juice that is thicker than most of the synthetic biosynthetic, etc. lubricants out there. Bolt is still harder to cycle than I imagine it should be. Unfortunately, I do not have any other Ross rifles to compare it too. How difficult should it be? It is definitely stiffer than any of the 4 Enfields that I own. I guess I could try to take the bolt down but I am really reluctant to do that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Put some Lubriplate No. 105 Grease on the tracks, etc and it is better. Might use some jewelers rouge with 3 in 1 to smooth it out a little more. Thanks!
