    03 Stock Mark Query

Today @ a small gun show I bought a fairly nice(altho refinished) 03 Springfield grasping groove stock that still has the "S" in the cut-off recess on the left side & the "P" proof mark on the underside. Additionally, an "H" is stamped in the end of the butt to the right of the oiler recess, where it would be covered by the butt plate. What is the signifigence of this "H"? TIA, folks.

The "H" is a subinspection mark.

    Hope this helps.
