Looking at buying\bidding on this 10/40 rifle, but I need cartouche verification. Is Mr. B around? Thanks in advance

I saw the rifle listed, far from correct, should still have a keystone operating rod spring

    Fakes

The problem with Rick's explanations is that each time he tells us what is wrong with a cartouche, it is ammunition for the next faker to improved his work. At some point only the wood itself will betray a fake. Maybe we should urge him to give a thumbs up or down with no elaboration.

While I appreciate this logic and I don’t mean to be morbid....
What happens when the folks that have this knowledge pass away? If no one knows how to spot a fake at that time, what difference does it make?
