    Carcano finds

A small pile of Italianicon Carcanos have recently hit the USAicon. But, buyer beware. Many are out of Ethiopia and have bad/terrible bores. But a small shipment out of Italy have recently cleared USA Customs. I have seen them at Bud's Guns. These are Italian Police guns and are in nice shape. Good luck to all.

Ethiopia. Not there is a word that screams proper firearms maintenance.

The must be the ones that Orion Wholesale, Classic Firearms, and Palmetto State Armory are selling. I resisted the temptation to buy one when my FFL told be she could get me one for $220.00 from Orion Wholesale, if you can believe that.

You are correct. The importer does not do retail sales. They are around, call around to find a good price. All are pretty good condition. Story: The Brits captured an Italianicon Army of several divisions and took in their equipment. They promised the Ethiopians they would turn over all the equipment to the locals. But, instead put them on a boat and tossed everything overboard. The Ethiopians NEVER forgot that lesson.

Looks like Palmetto has the Moschetto TS 91 TS 6.5 for $250 and Classic Firearms has the M91 Moschetto Cavalry Carbine in 6.5 for $270. The Cavalry Carbines from Classic Firearms were reportedly used by the Carabinieri (as opposed to the military) and are probably in pretty good shape. Royal Tiger has a selection of almost every type of Carcano rifle out of Ethiopia. These Ethiopian rifles have a very interesting history, as they were used in the colonial war and in WWII, but they can be in rough shape. I have an interest in the Italo-Abyssinia war, so I picked up two Carcanos from Ethiopia. They were filthy (dead bug bodies were in one), but they cleaned up alright. The bores even have some rifling left too.

Bought one of those cavalry carbines from classic last week very happy with a nice shiny bright bore and bolt Just soaked the bore in PB blaster for a bit and ran two bore snakes through it and it came out great nicely grooved very shiny very surprised. Stock needed a good degreasing the inside was full of dirt but cleaned up nicely

Plenty of rifling, just very corroded, as one would expect.
They even might shoot quite ok...
How’s the rest of the guns?

I bowed to the pressure and ordered a Berdan from Ethiopia. Crazy things are non-existent here in the US, at least in my area. Only ever saw one for sale and it was an arm and a leg 8 years ago. I got an email they had Berdan's and put an order it without really thinking much about it. Holding my breath now waiting. I don't like sight unseen stuff. One review so far, stock good, bore good, exterior metal wire wheeled. I've seen a photo of another type that looks like that was done to it also. Luck of the draw and it didn't look that bad.
