    Another question/ potential small problem.

    Am I right in assuming that the end cap on a 1903 is not supposed to contact the barrel?

    Are you referring to the front band with the bayonet lug?

    Yes. It's just touching the barrel at the front top.

    FWIW - Loosen both trigger-guard screws, wiggle and seat the barreled/action in the stock, firmly tighten the front trigger-guard assembly screw, and just 'snug' the rear guard screw.

    With 1903 Springfield and Kragicon rifles, if you over-tighten the rear trigger-guard screw, it tends to 'lever' the barreled/action upward making the top of the barrel contact the front barrel-band.

    Looks like the part might have been slightly crushed. It's pretty beat up so I'm going to get another and see what transpires.
