    1916 Brescia M91 carbine

Been on a Carcano kick lately, and found one today that I've kind of been on the lookout for. A First World War Carcano carbine, more specifically, a 1916 Brescia M91 'Moschetto'.
This example has the first variation latch bayonet, which after some time proved to not be the sturdiest method of retaining the bayonet. After this they developed a lever method, which was a bit better until the button version came about.
Early examples also did not have an upper handguard, but it became evident that these little carbines got pretty hot pretty fast, so that was added during the war. I think this one originally did not have one, as you can see where the the little 'lip' handguard retainer has a small weld, probably added during the war.
An added bonus are the cleaning rods still in the trap in the stock!
This carbine has a great patina to it, and I'd love to know where it has been....Caporetto? All over the Isonzo Front?
    Really pleased with this one!
