I think it was BQ years ago who pointed out that when these guns went through a rebuild, all flips were removed and replaced with Type 2 and 3 adjustable. The removed flips were to be retained for possible future use. So somewhere there might be a number of removed sights.

When parts came off rifles in the military they have been superseded and have no further value. No one up in the armorers shop see's value and they have no where to store them anyway. They just go into the garbage. I remember seeing carbines here in the '70s that had all the early features, that was long after the rebuild program after WW2. Push safeties, flip sights, "I" cut stocks...type one bands, flat bolts. That was just what you could see...without stripping. This was in the pawn shops in Vancouver and we went over some weekends on shopping trips looking for carbines. They were there by the rack full, Lever arms and Century arms were moving them at the time.

His uncle probably was from Chicago and he routinely walked out of the factory with lunch pails full of them.... or maybe he found a ammo can full of them in a barn in Normandy. Whose to say

Started out selling as Repro's in 05, then just dropped the term Repro. All now sold as 'Used'.

Many of the barrel bands are cut down type 3 bands. The rear sights seem to remind me of old what's his name over on the left coast river bank.

If the seller is talented enough to cut down a Type III Bayo band and make it in to a Type I Band, I'm a Buyer.

I did my best. Someone said it couldn't be done and that's all it took for me.
