    Caring for Swiss 1911 stock

    Hello all,

I recently purchased myself a swiss G1911, and I love it. The gun is beautiful, and very accurate. However, I am concerned about how I can keep this rifle in original military fit & finish. I know in service Wood and metal was wiped with Waffenfett to protect from moisture/rust. I have looked far and wide for a Waffenfett recipe, but have only found Guisans recipe for the 1870s stuff (Tallow & Olive oil, to clean bore, not suitable for wood as you could imagine). Does anyone out there have a Recipe for the grease, or use other products that closely imitate its properties to keep their guns in original shape?

    Appreciate any replies,
    CanadianLanBoy

Go here, and in the upper right-hand side of the opening page is a link named "rifle info".
Scroll through the topic titles and click on the one that says "Waffenfett and Automattenfett".
Waffenfett was a vegetable based grease. The improvement came with the semi auto and automatic rifles in the form of Automattenfett. . The formula for that one is in that particular topic title.
