    Roy,

    Just phoned a mate who has a PM and he says the same, the NSN was only put on the L96 contract, but the definitve answer to all the speculation, would be to contact: ai@accuracyinternational.org who would assist I'm sure.

    I would like to see a sub forum for early Accuracy Internationals too.

    Clearly this is wrong because there are many PM prefixed rifles bearing the NSN and L96A1 engraving. The original post has photos showing this and there are many other documented examples in this forum alone.

    All of the L96's supplied to Bedfordshire police (of which Promo's is one) carried the full L96A1 designation and NSN number

    Roy,
    Since reading the 14/15/16 posts I am a tad confused.
    Could you just clarify whether it should or should not be present on PM's please?

    Ahh.......
    The PM, L96 debate
    Yes the Police purchased PM's from Accuracy international.
    The receivers (certainly the Beds police ones) were marked CR138 GA RIFLE 7.62mm L96A1 1005-99-967-3405 on the LH side with a PM serial number on the RH side
    The only differences between a military issue L96 and the Beds police rifles (at the time they were purchased) was the barrel (swirl type flash eliminator on the police rifle) and the scope/mount set up

    The only difference between Promo's Beds Police PM rifle (in its current form) and a military issue L96A1 is the serial number configuration

    As an interesting aside look at the way the 'Infantry' rifle is referred to in some early AI publicity material

    I am neither native speaker nor from the UKicon, so please forgive me if my question sounds stupid: what does NSN mean? This somehow does not allow me to understand most of the replies in here. Thanks!

    NSN = Nato Stock Number
    CR = Carbine/Rifle Part Number
