Barrel marking on Springfield Inc. Beretta M1 Garand

    Good Day All,
I took time in the new year to clean my Beretta manufactured Springfield Inc. M1icon. The story is that Bob Reese, the original owner of Springfield Inc. and later Reese Surplus purchased 200 Italianicon Beretta M1's in the early 90's. In the early to mid 2000's he slowly started to sell them on the open market. They are all since long gone. Last year I found one and purchased it.

When I disassembled the rifle, I noticed a number of stamped codes on the barrel. Letters/numbers D25 and 3657100 are on top above the chamber and the original USGI Springfield Armory part number/heat lot codes, and D275 is on the side. These are not part US markings or typically found on US rebuilds. My guess is the markings were Italian and done during the conversion from 30.06 to 7.62 NATO. Possibly later when the barrel was installed on a rifle (not necessarily the one it is currently installed on). I thought of a date code but there are too many numbers to be a typical year/Julian date combo. Does anyone have experience with what these Italian (?) letter/numerical markings refer to?

    Regards,
    Michael
