Best M1 Carbine "How to" book
Hi
I'm a newbie, and I need to know how to clean and strip the M1. I also need to know, what else I need to know. What book (s) do you all suggest and why?
Thanks again

Here is a place to start. http://www.surplusrifle.com/m1carbine/index.asp See "Maintenance" topics on the right. Also get a copy of TM9-1276, the M1 Carbine Technical Manual printed for the US Military. You can download it from here: Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire (Thanks, LavaTech ) The first book I'd buy is "U.S. M1 CARBINES, WARTIME PRODUCTION" by Craig Riesch, 6th Edition. Later you can spend the bucks for "WAR BABY!" by Larry L. Ruth

I gave my kids carbines for Christmas last year and included with each a copy of "The M1 Carbine Owner's Guide" by Larry Ruth and Scott Duff. It has complete instructions on everything (with excellent diagrams) plus a thumbnail history, troubleshooting advice, and so forth. You can get it from many sources including Midway MidwayUSA - "M1 Carbine Owner's Guide" Book by Larry L. Ruth with Scott A. Duff or Amazon.com
The field and technical manuals are good too of course.
