Rock Island 1903 finished by Springfield

I recently came across and purchased a 1903 stamped by Rock Island Arsenal but with a Springfield serial number of 1,293,033. It has the correct C stock and SA barrel marked 9-28. This receiver was one of the approximately 2000 that RIA sent to Springfield Armory where it was completed and given a SA serial number in 1929. I will have more photos to post shortly.

Are there any stock markings on your rifle?

Thanks for sharing. I've read numerous times about the late production Rock Islands that were finished by Springfield. I've also seen and been confused by two or three Rock Islands with seven digit serial numbers. Never did I associate the two as one-in-the-same. Very cool to see and put together.

Nice. I’m still looking for my first 1903. Just got my first Garandicon. The history of these rifles is fascinating.
