Makarov holster question

Unfamiliar with Makarov holsters (and most things Russian), but I am curious....this strap...what is it for? The pistol looks to fit deep (and snugly) in this holster. Is this strap used to "draw" the weapon? lift it high enough out of the flapped holster that you can then grab the grip with your hand?


Is it that simple?

Yes, lift it so you don't have to dig in with fingertips or more like...gloves.

I have a couple of holsters like that. Lugers are like that.
