As a kid, in an epic moment of stupidity, I fired a pistol on horseback. After a long walk to the house, my uncle, who had been puzzled why the horse was there without me, explained the concept, "gunbroke"

Both the US Navy and USMC adopted the 6mm Lee rifle and 6mm Colt "potato digger" in the 1890's.

Wonder if the Colt mg is still in 6mm cal ?

Hard to say, they used them in 30/40, 30-03, .30 cal, 6mm Navy Lee. All of them would have been in the system at once too.

Nope, a tripod extension. (Mainly used for firing over high hedges.)
