Both the US Navy and USMC adopted the 6mm Lee rifle and 6mm Colt "potato digger" in the 1890's.
Wonder if the Colt mg is still in 6mm cal ?

Hard to say, they used them in 30/40, 30-03, .30 cal, 6mm Navy Lee. All of them would have been in the system at once too.
