    Sten Mk V stock cartouche

    Hello,
I have a Sten Mk V that I've cleaned up the stock recently, and noticed a GS and possibly a third letter. Anyone seen similar?
    General Stores perhaps?

    Cheers,
    Burton

A couple of pics. The stamp is not clear, so photographing is tricky. I see a "G-S"
    . Thoughts?

General Stores it is not. No such thing. Far more likely to be a unit thing.

The problem is, the Mk5 Stens that have hit the collectors market over the last five years have come from all over the world.

You would have to have to know who the final user was first, before having a stab at identifying the markings.

My understanding is the majority come from India...
