    GEW bolt heads

    Good morning
I was given or better yet picked a GEWicon 88 out of a trash heap yesterday. It is in surprising shape. Needs a barrel (this one is leaded), a new firing pin, and of course a bolt head. I have the others on order but my question is, are the few boltheads interchangable? Would a 98 fit on my 88? This is turning out to be a great find.

I am confused as to what you are asking. A Gewehr 88 is a completely different design than a M98 Mauser, if that is what your asking and no parts are likely going to be interchangable. Certainly no bolt parts.

When the barrel is machined and chambered for the cartridge they (should) set up the headspace for your bolt.

You know leading can be removed too...don't need to change the barrel.

Century Intl has/had a pile of Gew88's. No bolt heads. Gew88 stuff on ebay all of the time. You need to find a complete rifle and start there. You have a pile of parts and are going about it in the wrong way. Buy a complete rifle and then start the project.

The Gew98 is a one piece bolt , it does not have a bolt head . You would be better off just getting a complete rifle . The barrels just screw in , no sights to have to swap . Barrels are cheap , but so are barreled receivers , because there are no cheap boltheads .
