Help, anyone live/work near Newbury, Berkshire?

Help, anyone live/work near Newbury, Berkshire?

I screwed up and bought a bayonet there at auction, auction house refuses to ship as it is a "weapon", local shipping companies want more than I want to pay to pick it up, box and ship.

Looking for options before resigning it to be resold later. Please PM if you can assist.

    Thanks in advance!

That's pretty crap that they are prepared to sell a weapon to make money; but won't ship it to the purchaser!

It's probably current Post Office rules; when I was working we couldn't post Lithium batteries by themselves, however if they were in a camera it wasn't a problem. Please don't ask because I'm still struggling with that one myself!

A friend in the north east owns a 25 Pdr Field gun and does the reloading himself using a cut down .303 case as a primary ignition source; he wanted some more empty cases so I posted off 96 "brass tubes" as it was the only way to get round the Stasi who were running the place.

My reading and interpretation of Post Office rules is that the only knives that they won't ship are the ones that are banned under UKicon law? (Which shouldn't be shipped anyway to/within the UK.) Obviously any knives still have to be packaged safely, like in a scabbard. All other UK laws and Post Office/Royal Mail rules still have to be complied with so reading the relevant rules and understanding which laws apply is imperative.

Let us know how this finishes up? It was one of the things that first happened to me when I came to forum, needed a small part and a member stepped forward to help. He purchased and mailed it to me...long time back now.
    Regards, Jim

I bought a new Sheffield made Fairburn Sykes on line last year and it was sent by post (export) no problem. Same company sells cutlery on line all day everyday.
    It doesn't make sense!

Check the T&C's of all the delivery companies in the UKicon and it is easier to list what they will ship. Example wont send magnets but will send speakers. Go figure.
