This man carried his M1 to work every day, and every night. (PHOTO)

This is Darrell "Shifty" Powers, known to many of you who have watched "Band of Brothers". I photographed him at the 2006 Reading Air Show, where I also encountered a survivor of U.S.iconS. Arizona.

We won't encounter such folks for very much longer.

That ol'jump jacket is looking pretty good after all these years. Amazing that he still fits into it. I have my late father's jump jacket (he was in the 503rd in the SWP) and it's always the envy of the reenactors at the gun shows.LOL

That is a reproduction jump jacket. The real deal would not have the anodized zipper. It would have the Talon zipper. The snaps are not worn enough either. But all that doesn't matter two squirts of whiz cause regardless of it being real or a reproduction he earned the right to wear it and wear it proudly

Dan, that friend of yours is most fortunate. And also, I believe it's spelt "Yourup" or something like that.

Little known fact. Babe Heffron actually appears in the movie "Band of Brothers". When the troops enter Einhoven there is a scene where a Sgt is kissing a Dutch woman. Babe is seated at a nearby table, waving a flag.

I got to hear Buck Compton and Don Malarkey give a talk on their exploits at an airshow last summer, and wow, what a couple of great gentlemen. They've certainly got my respect and thanks.
