Most "Bubba"ed Gun I've ever been near

I have been on vacation this week, and it's been a good collecting week. Stopped by the TMP park for CMP, found a 1093 and a 1917 for the collection last Saturday. Baldwin County AL was having their gun show today at the County Fairgrounds. I found an Inland M1 Carbine that was needing a good home, and I'm going to take it home to join its brother.

However, I also found what has to be the most Bubba'ed gun I've ever actually been near. I've seen pictures of worse, but never been in the presence of anything this bad. The same guy had 2 different Calicos for sale too, but this was definitely the gaudy top of his collection:

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Were they all plated gold? Even the example in the link was plated gold just like the op's picture but I didn't see anything about different finishes.

I thought you were pulling my leg, then I read the web page. I don’t care if the factory did it, it’s still the gaudiest piece of crap gun I’ve ever seen in person. A gold-plated Universal is still a Universal.

(Mind you, I’ve seen pictures of Hussein’s guns before, and the Mexican cartel leaders were notorious for gaudy 38 Super 1911s, but I haven’t seen any of them in person.)

You must have never seen one of the "Commemorative" firearms pumped out by numerous company's these last 50 years with gold plated parts and laser engraving for bunches of dollars.

Regardless. It still hurts my eyes. If M1s were ment to be gold plated Uncle Sam would have made them that way.

I saw the front cap on the forestock/upper handguard and it looks exactly like the one I used on my enforcer years ago. It was a round one with a set screw. Yes, very scarce and older carbine version. No, I don't like the plating or varnish either. They were meant as a collector's carbine anyway.
