Others seen this before me. I just ran across it today.
    On GI, sold for $1800.00
M-1 Carbine MFG. BY The Peoples Republic Of China for sale

"Peoples Republic of China" started to copy the US M-1 30 cal. carbine after WW11,This rifle was manufactured at the Mukden Arsenal in Manchuria.in 1949 after the Chinese revolution with the Chinese Nationalist.
    Date code: 1949, 12 (December) SN# 00036

After looking at the pictures a few thoughts........

Is that Hi-Wood, a home made / carved stock? Kapur ?
Flip sight GI (?) installed backward or China made with no Dished out Peep side?
See Receiver rails by the locking lugs at the front of the bolt, Looked Bowed / Bulged to anyone else?
    Would YOU fire this?

Charlie, looks like they might be related. Check out the "wide" radius on the flip sight.

Yes the receiver looks bowed wide at the front by the lug. Everything seems a bit out of whack and no I wouldn't shoot it. I don't even want it as a curio.

    Big Collector contacted me,
He had 2 of these at one time. Sold and got his money back on one. Still has the other. I have the SN#'s but would like his OK to post them.
He brought up a good point about these ugly POS....... That they tried to copy early versions Carbines, like the Hi-wood and rear flip.
Both of us wondering about the GI parts........ Where did they get them ?

With millions made, used in the Korea 'police action', Vietnam, far east countries, captured, stolen, bought, etc, there shouldn't be a problem.

My thought too, Carbines weren't exactly a secret, restricted use or hard to find item. Lots out there to get parts from, or parts suppliers.

Only tied to a tree with a long bit of string Charlie ... Interesting curio for a collection, but best deactivated so someone doesn't end up loosing their head!

Seems like a good collectable for its strangeness. Would worth while to find its provenance.
