For info - just sold today at a UKicon auction house was an original looking Aldis scope with mounts and most of the leather case. Hammered at GBP 1400 plus fees of approx 30%. I missed seeing it until too late but perhaps a member here snagged it.

Picture from auction house attached - description of lot was:

A WWI black lacquer rifle scope by Aldis Brothers, Birmingham date stamped 1915: and numbered 'Rifle 7296' to main tube and stamped 'J Purdy & Sons' to front mount, 'T' bar sight to optics, together in leather case with matching number to exterior. *Note - Formerly the property of Driver E McAllen, 91st Royal Field Artillery and passed down through the family, together with photocopies of photographs and a newspaper cutting of Driver McAllen.
