    Sten MK5 sling swivel

    Does anyone know when the sling swivel on the MK5 Sten gun was changed to the small triangle type ? Im putting the finishing touches on a Sten MKVI that I built on a registered York tube and realized my sling doesn’t attach due to the sling swivel being a small triangle instead of the larger oval one.

    Here’s the Sten , I’m working on the silencer unit and hope to get it done soon. I have a reproduction suppressor cover from HT&C in Englandicon. The silencer unit will be 1.5” diameter and 13 inches long. It’s not a direct copy but will be very close externally.

    I don’t know how to imbed images here to here is a link to my build so far.

    I’m guessing my problem is trying to post from a phone . I’ll have to try again tomorrow when I get home on my desk top.

    You are trying to install your sling wrong.

    My understanding is that you reverse the sling direction on the "S" guns and attach the coiled loop to the butt stock and wrap the (ordinarily) butt end around the can.

    I've seen several MkII's converted to Mk5, but you actually filled and relocated the cocking handle safety notch!

    Have you got the correct block to fit? You need a Mk2 block for a Mk5/6. The Mk2 would have had a Mk1* block originally.

    Or is it a completely new semi bolt? It may still need modifying to Mk2 standard.

    @brit plumber

    What do you mean by block ? I haven’t heard that term before.

    Edit: after doing some digging I see the brits call the bolt a block! the more I learn the more I realize I have a lot more to learn!

    The bolt is a standard Sten MK5 bolt , it is a live registered machine gun.
