    Standard Products Refurb

I didn't wan to hijack WinterRanger's thread reference his new Inland carbine (really nice rifle) so I started this one since I had some questions:

    1. When they refurbed the rifles after WW2 and converted them to Type 3 sights, barrel bands and safeties, did they also just "mix master" them and use whatever parts were available"

    2. This rifle has a "STD PROD RWH" stamp on the stock. I am not sure but their may be a very faint "IO" stamp in the slingwell. The upper 2-rivet handguard has no marks at all. Are these the normal marks for a refurb?

    3. The recoil plate has no marks and appears to have a "seam" in it (commercial part?)

    4. The barrel has some weird gray colored coat on it partially obscuring the "Underwood" manufacturing mark, the month of manufacture and part of the flaming bomb. Any idea what this coating is? If so, can it be removed?

    5. It appears to have an NPM butt plate, but the edges of the plate have a weird texture to them. The plate is extremely clean so I don't believe this is due to wear/corrosion. Is this possible a commercial part?

    6. The flip safety, trigger and magazine release appear to be a darker color with a smoother texture than the rest of the gun. Are these correct or commercial parts?

Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
